The Athgama Khap in the Charkhi Dadri region has decided to submit a proposal to the administration for the closure of liquor shops in eight villages under its jurisdiction. On Saturday, Khap officials visited the villages of Patuwas and Maharana, where they engaged with locals to discuss various social evils and encouraged them to take corrective action. The meeting was chaired by Sarpanch Ranbir Singh.

Key Decisions Taken: During the discussions, the participants highlighted several issues, including the growing addiction among youth, the negative impact of alcohol, and the presence of liquor shops in the villages. A unanimous decision was made to send a proposal to the administration requesting the closure of these liquor shops across all eight villages governed by the Khap.

In addition, a ban on playing loud music (DJ) during events was also discussed, and it was suggested that a committee of youth be formed in the villages to assist the Khap in addressing such matters. The attendees also advocated for relationships to be formalized with parental consent and urged that there be no live-in relationships or marriages within the same gotra.

Other Measures:

  • A recommendation was made to report the sale of illegal alcohol or narcotics to the authorities.
  • The Khap also emphasized strengthening its organization through financial contributions and vowed to continue collaborating with villages to resolve other collective problems.

The Khap leadership remains committed to improving social conditions and curbing the spread of substance abuse within these villages.
