On Saturday, the Athgama Khap of Ghassola held a meeting in the villages of Patuwas and Maharana to discuss social evils and misconduct. The Khap leadership engaged with the villagers on the issues affecting society, encouraging them to take the right steps in addressing these concerns. The meeting was chaired by Sarpanch Ranbir Singh, and it was decided that a proposal would be submitted to the administration requesting the closure of liquor shops in all eight villages under the Khap's jurisdiction.
During the discussion, the villagers raised several issues, including a ban on loud music (DJ) at events, the rising trend of substance abuse among the youth, and the presence of liquor shops. The attendees proposed sending a formal request to the administration through the panchayats to close these liquor shops in all eight villages.
Other Key Proposals:
- A call was made to seek parental consent for relationships and marriages, and for the youth to stay away from illegal substances, particularly alcohol.
- In cases where illegal alcohol or narcotics are sold in the villages, it was advised that the administration be informed immediately.
- A committee of young people will be formed in each village to work alongside the Khap in such matters.
- It was suggested that live-in relationships and marriages within the same gotra should be avoided.
- Financial support will be sought to strengthen the Khap's organization, and they will continue collaborating with the villages to address collective issues.
In conclusion, the Khap members are committed to addressing these social problems in partnership with the community.
